My Final Project: Density

Singularly, leaves have a small significance in density

Yet when there is a bundle of leaves, together they create a more dense space

This is similar with rocks

Singularly, in space, a single rock has little significance

Yet as a group, the space is filled.

And together, as these items were found on the line

They fit together because of the space in density that they fill

The clear yet gleaming fishing string symbolizes the unseen density in the air and space

Proposals: Density

The beginning of my ideas started with interpreting the word “Density” into something less scientific. Many people thought of density in a mass, volume and weight aspect, but I had a different view.

The concept of line density, and matter density through materials was the first thing that came to mind.

My first proposals began with Creating density

filling up jars with leaves, sticks, rocks, and different kinds of natural substances

By soaking them in water, it would have them scientifically create density.

My next proposal was Walking through density

Also using the concept of line density

I thought to paint or draw on the walls a space of density

by drawing thin, tight lines to create a walkway through the wall.

My last proposal was also using the concept of using materials to create density

I used several techniques to create a sporadic and crowded space.

Ideas of Density

I find this video interesting because it explains density through the motion of dance.

—>The seeds on this dandelion are very compact, where the base of the seeds root into the stem, there is high density

—->Yet towards the tips of the seeds, the density exapnds due to the fuzzy ends.

—> The density of this wire fence, has almost completely dynamicly dense.

The Scientific Explaination of Density

DENSITY:

is a physical property of matter, as each element and compound has a unique density associated with it. Density defined in a qualitative manner as the measure of the relative “heaviness” of objects with a constant volume

—————————————————————————————————

 Mathematical Definition of Density
The formal definition of density is mass per unit volume. Usually the density is expressed in grams per mL or cc. Mathematically a “per” statement is translated as a division. cc is a cubic centimeter and is equal to a mL Therefore,Density=  Mass                  _________              Volume
Mass vs. Weight: Although the terms mass and weight are used almost interchangeably, there is a difference between them. Mass is a measure of the quantity of matter, which is constant all over the universe. Weight is proportional to mass but depends on location in the universe. Weight is the force exerted on a body by gravitational attraction (usually by the earth).Example: The mass of a man is constant. However the man may weigh: 150 lbs on earth, 25 lbs on the moon (because the force of gravity on the moon is 1/6 that of the earth), and be “weightless” in space.

DENSITY

Wikipedia Definition:

The mass density or density of a material is defined as its mass per unit volume.

an important concept regarding buoyancy, purity and packaging.

Exploration #00: My Own Interpretation

As I begin my walk

I have my headphones

plugged deep inside my ears

Not other sound

could get past these songs

of the moment

But, as I’m walking

and taking pictures

and ‘trying’ to find deep down

what this project is truly

meant to do for me.

I realize…

I can’t do it alone

Assignments like these

are things that need to be

passed onto other people

People who have no knowledge of ‘The Line’

Or knowledge of letting yourself go

Need see the little things in life

It’s the little things, that make a big significance.

—Walking on the sidewalk. A rubberband folded in the shape of a heart<3—

—Eventually all of these seeds will blow away. Where will they end up?—

—Someone took the time to tie this knot. Who? Why? For what reason?—

Therefore;

I brought my friend Sean…….

I wanted him

to experience

the places

where my mind and body has travelled

These passings of experiences

will continue with multiple people

After recognizing that Sean

truly accepted and appreciated the experiences

I carried him on, and the new ways of thinking

I hope other people will have the same thoughts

Exploration #35: Invisible City

Using Your Imagination, Create A Portrait Of Your City or Town In Which Everything That You Encounter Is Magical. Exaggerated, Or Slightly Altered From Reality. Use Whatever Documentation Method You Prefer.

I sit looking at this landscape. The only thing between me and this other “world” is this white fence. There isn’t a door, or a way to approach it without ruining it by jumping over it. I can only simply wonder what these things can do. The swing may not be a swing if I’ve never used it in this other world. that door may not be just a door. Maybe a Portal?

How would anyone know what something is unless we try.

But I can only stand and wonder.

These portals can be any figment of your imagination.

They can lead to your worst nightmare, or your heaven.

Depends on how you process, think and act.
